Preday
Classrooms are opened each day at 8:10 and school begins at 8:15. Preday is open from 7:30 to 8:10 for children who arrive at school early, either because they have to be dropped off by a parent or their buses arrive early. At Preday children may read, chat or play, and are supervised by an experienced teacher.
Afternoons
The School in Rose Valley's Afternoons Program provides a safe, relaxed and nurturing environment and offers a wide variety of activities designed to enrich minds, stretch bodies and encourage friendships. The Afternoons Program complements the values and philosophy of our school program.
After a long school day, some children need vigorous outdoor play, while others want an inside space to play quietly or do homework.
Many children are tired at the end of the day and seek unstructured time with friends or a safe, nurturing environment for 'down time.' The Afternoons staff strives to create a space where all of these needs can be met. The program is headquartered in Grace, and uses the kitchen, outdoor deck, the gym and occasionally downstairs, as well as the outdoors.
The Afternoons teachers are experienced and caring with many combined years of working with children in a variety of settings.
Pre-registration and pre-payment for Afternoons are not required. The program is available to all currently enrolled SRV students. It is available daily from 3 to 6 p.m. The charge for Afternoons is $7.00 per hour. After 6 p.m. families are charged a $15 penalty plus $1 per minute. Afternoons bills are sent monthly; payments received more than 14 days late will be assessed a finance charge.
