The School in Rose Valley has a longstanding commitment to making its educational opportunities affordable to families regardless of their economic circumstances. Financial aid funds are awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and comprise a significant portion of our annual operation budget. When making decisions about financial aid, The School in Rose Valley follows guidelines established by the National Association of Independent Schools. Awards are granted on an annual basis and all families need to apply each year. First priority is given to current students, then applications for new students are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In order to share our limited funds equitably, families need to carefully follow the steps for financial aid applications. Laurie Grant is available to assist families through this process.
Financial Aid Application Steps
- Complete a Parent's Financial Statement (PFS) and send it to the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey ASAP.
- Submit a copy of your 2009 federal tax form 1040, with all schedules, and W-2 statement along with a copy of the PFS form to the Admissions Office. To insure a fair and accurate determination of financial need, both parents, regardless of marital status, are required to provide financial information. All information is confidential and will not be used for anything other than determining financial need.
- In cases of divorce or separation, both parents are required to provide financial information. The parent with whom the child normally lives files the standard PFS with SSS, while the non-custodial parent files a separate form called the Financial Statement for Parents who are Separated or Divorced or Have Never Been Married. This form, along with tax returns and schedules, is sent to the school.
Limited financial aid is available to students in all grades beyond preschool based on demonstrated financial need. Financial need is determined by the difference between the tuition charged and the family's ability to pay, using tax returns and the School and Student Service for Financial Aid Parent Financial Statement. Families are encouraged to speak with Laurie Grant for more information.
