Service Learning and Partnerships
What is Service Learning and Partnerships at The School in Rose Valley?
Service Learning and Partnerships mean teaching kids how to be part of a community, how to be responsible citizens, and how to help make the world a better place. It is about learning through contributing to the community–the classroom community, the school community, the surrounding community, and the global community. It also means learning through partnering with kids and grown-ups from different backgrounds and learning to celebrate our cultural differences and our human unity.

Service and partnership learning initiatives bring to life the sections of our philosophy statement that say:
- we value "democracy, diversity, and sustainability," that
- we advance "sustainability as a personal, campus, local, and global practice," and that
- our "students become competent and active citizens by fulfilling real responsibilities, from tending our campus to partnering with other communities in learning and service.
