Service Learning and Partnerships
What is Service Learning & and Partnerships at The School in Rose Valley?
Service Learning and Partnerships mean teaching kids how to be part of a community, how to be responsible citizens, and how to help make the world a better place. It is about learning through contributing to the community–the classroom community, the school community, the surrounding community, and the global community. It also means learning through partnering with kids and grown-ups from different backgrounds and learning to celebrate our cultural differences and our human unity.

Service and partnership learning initiatives bring to life the section in our philosophy statement that says:
Learning should have purpose. Children will shape the world's future, and should be given the intellectual, moral and social guidance and tools to do so responsibly . . . Teaching them to respect all living things and connecting their lives to the larger context of community helps them become sensitive and informed citizens. They develop perspective and judgment, and are empowered to act.
