Spanish Teacher
Sarah Caruso (she/her) has been a language aficionado since she started middle school. After studying Spanish for 6 years and enjoying two immersive opportunities in Spain during high school, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in which linguistic and cultural fluency would be central. Sarah earned a BA in Spanish and Japanese from Lafayette College, where she served as co-President of the school’s chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Hispanic Honor Society. During college, she worked as a language lab assistant, tutor, and TA for Japanese. After graduating, she spent a year as a Fulbright Fellow researching early childhood education in Japan. Sarah later graduated from Boyd School of Law (UNLV), where she used Spanish as a student attorney in the Immigration Clinic. She practiced immigration law for 7 years, using Spanish every day to represent clients from Mexico and Central and South America. When her youngest was a toddler, Sarah returned to her first passion, education. She has taught Spanish to students of all ages, from pre-school children to senior citizens. Sarah lives in Swarthmore with her husband, children, and rescue pets. When she’s not teaching or spending quality time with her family, Sarah can usually be found painting with acrylic, inks, and watercolor while listening to jazz classics.
