At The School in Rose Valley, education begins with a child’s natural curiosity. We recognize that the most substantive learning occurs when children are actively engaged in making meaning from direct experiences. Our intimate, mixed-age classrooms and creekside campus are laboratories for the hands-on experimentation and authentic inquiry through which our students build knowledge.

Admissions Play Day (Preschool & Kindergarten applicants):
Students applying to Preschool and Kindergarten spend the morning in a classroom with a group of their peers and one or two teachers doing typical classroom activities. Kindergarten applicants will be informally assessed on age appropriate academic skills. Parents remain on campus during the visit (but not in the classroom) and have the opportunity to talk with SRV’s Head of School, board members, current and other prospective parents. This event is typically held on a Saturday at the end of January. For applications received after this date, we will arrange an admissions visit during the school day.
1st – 6th Grade Applicants
Applicants for 1st grade will spend one day (8:15am-3pm) in a classroom with students in their current grade level. Applicants for 2nd-6th grade will spend two consecutive days in a classroom with students in their current grade level.
You will be contacted regarding the outcome of your child’s application in February and on a rolling basis thereafter based on space availability. It may be necessary to arrange a second visit or gather additional information about your child before a final decision is made.
An Enrollment Contract is sent with the letter of acceptance. Registration materials are provided after the Enrollment Contract is submitted to the school office.
In order to maximize the chance of your child receiving Tuition Assistance, please complete the steps outlined in Applying for Tuition Assistance according to the timeline. Enrollment applications are considered independently of Tuition Assistance applications. Admissions decisions are made regardless of the applicant’s need for Tuition Assistance.
We look forward to working with your family throughout the admission process. Please contact Rory Mannion, Director of Enrollment Management, with questions regarding any aspect of the admission process: rorym@theschoolinrosevalley.org or 610.566.1088.
