At The School in Rose Valley, music education is inspired by the Orff-Schulwerk approach, a method developed by the renowned German composer and educator Carl Orff, famously known for his work, Carmina Burana. This approach engages students through rhythm, melody, harmony, and other musical elements in a holistic and playful way. Through activities such as speaking, chanting, singing, dancing, moving, acting, and playing instruments, students experience music in a hands-on, immersive manner.
SRV’s music program is a journey of creative discovery. By embracing their natural sense of play, students are encouraged to improvise, compose, and develop their own musical voices. Our full Orff Instrumentarium, which includes xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, and various percussion instruments, provides endless opportunities for exploration and musical expression.
Music Curriculum Overview:
The music program at SRV nurtures each child’s musical potential, helping them build skills progressively while fostering a deep love and understanding of music. Whether exploring the resonant sounds of a xylophone or experimenting with rhythm on a hand drum, students develop a lifelong appreciation for music in an environment that celebrates creativity and collaboration.
