I joined the United States Army Reserves as a Heavy Equipment Operator my senior year of high school, and went on to work as a security guard at the Godiva Chocolate manufacturing facility in Wyomissing, PA, and the Crayola manufacturing plant in Forks Township, PA. Most recently I worked as a Protective Security Officer for the Department of Homeland Security in Philadelphia. Though I now live in Denmark with my wife, I always have little pieces of SRV with me; from the wonderful memories and the ideals it bestowed upon me, to the JBM painting of the wood shop on my bedroom wall and my bead ceremony beads on my desk. As a third-generation SRV alum, it has always been a part of my family; but to an even greater extent, the SRV community has been, and always will be, like a giant family, and that is something I will cherish forever.
