Events at SRV
Mark your calendars…May Fair is Saturday, May 2nd!
May Fair is one of those events you have to experience to fully appreciate — lemon sticks, student performances, handmade crafts and games, a potluck café, bake sale, and the Oldest Group’s Maypole dance to close it all out!
Read on for our May Fair Q&A — including how to get involved. Family participation is what makes this event so meaningful!
When should I arrive and where should I park?
May Fair is an all-day affair, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Please park your car at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (800 Manchester Ave, Moylan) and ride the SRV shuttle to the Fair. The shuttle runs back and forth all afternoon except during the student performances (2-3pm).
What can I expect to see at May Fair?
Throughout the day you can play games and do crafts, enjoy delicious food, and see inventions and decorations lovingly created by your children and their teachers. You should also be on the lookout for pony rides, our own sheep Sol, Luna, and Estrella awaiting their annual shearing, the annual May Fair plant sale, a bake sale, cafe lunch, and May Fair T-shirts and other goodies for purchase at the May Fair store. And of course, the dancing! Each class prepares a performance and we come together to watch these at 2pm.
What does it cost to attend and to participate?
Entry to the fair is free for all. You can purchase tickets for your family; they will be your currency for food, games and crafts. To avoid congestion you may purchase tickets ahead of time using this link.
Let’s talk about the dancing!
Dancing begins at 2:00 p.m.; please make sure your child is on campus by 1:30. (Remember you also need time to wait for and ride the shuttle.) Dancing begins with the preschool groups and culminates with the Maypole dance performed by the OG. Then the “dance floor” opens up to anyone else who wants to join in the fun. Classes work hard together for weeks choreographing and practicing their class dances. They are counting on one another to be there and ready on the big day!
What is the cookout?
It’s been a long day. After cleanup many families love to stay on campus and relax together at a casual cookout. This is an opportunity to kick back, mix and mingle with community members old and new. School supplies the food, and volunteers run the afternoon. The cookout meal costs a few dollars per person. Bring a blanket to sit on!

Who is in charge of May Fair?
We need you to make the magic happen! May Fair is a parent-run event which means that parents are responsible for organizing and executing the major aspects of the day, from set-up to staffing to food preparation to clean-up. We ask at least one adult from each family to volunteer for shifts throughout the day. For more detailed questions about May Fair or to get involved in planning, contact Carrie Miluski at carrie@theschoolinrosevalley.org
What should I bring?
Can we bring friends or other family members?
Yes! You are welcome to bring family members, alumni, and others who want to share in the joy of May Fair with your children. May Fair weekend is also reunion weekend and you may meet past students and families enjoying the nostalgia. 2026 is a reunion year for alumni from the graduating classes of 2000 to 2016.
Is it too late to get involved? What is expected of parents?
Use this link to sign-up for a volunteer shift at May Fair. If you are interested in a planning role, there is also a strong need – especially for families of children in the younger groups – to learn the ropes and train with the event captains. Email Carrie to get involved with planning.
Every family, every person is what makes May Fair a success. It is what makes the SRV community so magical.
Is there a Rain Date?
Yes! May Fair is rain or shine, but if the weather is extreme we postpone until Sunday. Please reserve the whole weekend just in case.
